IRP Application for Dublin

GNIB

GNIB stands for Garda National Immigration Bureau. It is a registration system for non-EU/EEA nationals staying in Ireland for more than 90 days.

Important Note: New name of GNIB is IRP (Irish Residence Permit). However, it is still used as GNIB in most places.

If you are a non-EU/EEA national, you must register with GNIB within 90 days of arriving in Ireland. To do so, you will need to schedule an appointment. Once you are registered, you will be given a GNIB card, which you should carry with you at all times as proof of your immigration status. The card also includes your photograph so that it can be used as a form of identification.

It is important to note that GNIB registration does not give you permission to work in Ireland. If you wish to work in Ireland, you will need to obtain a separate work permit. If you need to renew your GNIB registration, you should do so at least two weeks before your current registration expires. You can schedule your second GNIB appointment online through the GNIB website.

Failure to register with GNIB or to renew your registration can result in fines, deportation, or other legal consequences, so it is important to make sure you are in compliance with the GNIB requirements if you are a non-EU/EEA national staying in Ireland for more than 90 days.

How to Get a GNIB Appointment?

First of all, as Education State, we take our students' GNIB appointments. If you are not our student and you have problems with this, you can ask for help in our Dublin office 🙂

  • To book a GNIB appointment, you must call 1800 800630 on your Irish phone line between 09:00 and 17:00. It may take a long time to connect to the operator due to the current density, so we ask you to wait patiently to connect.
  • After connecting to the person in charge, what you need to say is “I want to book my first GNIB appointment.”
  • You don't have to worry while talking because people on the phone know that you are a foreigner. For this reason, they can talk to you patiently and for a long time.

Appointment Call

The questions that the person in charge will ask you are as follows;

  • Name Surname
  • Email Address
